President and Mrs. Bush were there when the Ft. Hood Survivors Emerged from Surgery

Hearing the news of the shootings at Ft. Hood, President George W. Bush (Phi '68) and Mrs. Bush drove directly to the hospital.  They didn't have to be called, and they didn't wait for the press to cover the event, they just went to lend whatever support they could.  This picture was not a news shot, it was taken by a hospital orderly.
