Chapter

Kenyon College

By: Lambda Chapter

Alumni of Lambda, I hope this message finds you all in good health and a happy state of affairs. It is with great pleasure and excitement that I begin this correspondence, with hopes that the active chapterís relationship with its alumni can be strengthened through consistent and lively communication. Let me explain my intentions before offering a short State of the Brotherhood.?

The active chapter hopes to keep the alumni updated on the events and accomplishments surrounding the fraternity at Kenyon in a monthly update via email. Most of these updates will be rather short and informational with news ranging from noteworthy happenings in the Kenyon community to the individual achievements of the active Lambda brothers. If you are interested in learning more or asking an unanswered question, reply to the email and I will do my best to respond quickly.?

On Kenyonís Campus in September, Greek Council held its annual Greek Week competition in which all fraternities and sororities are invited to vie for a prestigious cup and notoriety throughout the student body. The active brothers rose to each of the challenges presented to the Greek participants and prevailed. Will Peters 10í captured the Greek Banner competition with his artistic prowess early in the week, motivating Zach Wallace 09í and Colin Maclauchlan 08í to dominate the Psi Uís in the championship round of the annual water-pong (Beirut) tournament on the south quad. Lambdaís cup-victory was clenched when our participation in service-day surpassed that of all other organizations.

In other news, Noah Winterer 09í has re-started Safe Drives, a student-run service created by Lambda DKE years ago that provides campus wide transportation to students on weekend party nights. Ed Righter 09í and I, Philip Edmunds 09í are resurrecting the once competitive sailing team here at Kenyon and recently received approval to purchase a fleet of boats from University of Rhode Islandís team. Brian Hepp 09í, our charismatic leader and Lambda legacy, attained a role in a short film directed and written by Jean Mougin 10í and Carl Kriss 09í. Lastly, Charley Yukevich 10í has taken the initiative to publish a 150 year history of Lambda.

The endeavors and accomplishments listed above are heavily abridged and, we hope, reflect the overwhelming involvement of DKE in Kenyonís community. We continue to maintain the academic, social, and philanthropic standards set by 15 sophomores at Yale and reaffirmed by Lambdaís founders. The active brothers of Delta Kappa Epsilonís Lambda Chapter send our warmest regards to all of you from the west wing of Old Kenyon.

Kerothen Philoi Aei,

Philip Edmunds '09
