SHREVEPORT, LA.- A memorial service honoring the life of John Wesley Dowling, Jr., 63, will be held at 10:00am on Thursday, May 14th, 2009, in the Couch Chapel at First United Methodist Church in Shreveport, with Dr. Pat Day officiating. John was born on April 28, 1946 in Monroe, La. He was a graduate of both C.E. Byrd High School in Shreveport and Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge where he was initiated into Zeta Zeta Chapter of Delta Kappa Epsilon Fraternity on March 15, 1965. He was a loyal and avid fan of the LSU Tigers throughout his entire life. John was also a Vietnam Veteran who received three bronze stars and a medal of service.
He passed away of natural causes in the comfort of his home in Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts. He will be remembered and greatly missed by family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Wesley Dowling and Jessie Mae Scaife Dowling.
He is survived by his two loving daughters, Sarah Katherine Dowling Kendrick and Wesley Dowling Houtz; granddaughter Hannah Elizabeth Kendrick; brother Jim Dowling; nephew Craig Dowling, ZZ '04 and niece Jill Dowling. Forest Park Funeral Home And Cemeteries 318-221-7181
