David L Bornman III

ZETA ZETA - Louisiana State University - 1954
David Louis Bornman III, 76, of Black Mountain, passed away Saturday morning, April 25, 2009, after an extended bout with cancer.

Brother Bornman was born July 31, 1932 in Monroe, Louisiana and was initiated into Zeta Zeta chapter of Delta Kappa Epsilon on October 27, 1951. He lived in Baton Rouge until moving to Black Mountain, North Carolina 16 years ago.

David was a member of Black Mountain Presbyterian Church.

He exhibited his love for Black Mountain through his volunteerism with his church, Swannanoa Valley Christian Ministries, Black Mountain Chamber of Commerce and The Old Depot.

Mr. Bornman founded the Black Mountain Fine Arts and Crafts Show in 1997 and also founded the Black Mountain Beautification Committee’s Annual Flower show and garden sale.

He is preceded in death by his parents, David Louis Bornman, Jr. And Lillian Bryan Bornman and son, David Bryan Bornman.

David is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Kemper Luttrell Bornman; daughter, Ann Gorman and husband, Hal of Baton Rouge, LA; sister, Anne Bornman Dale and husband, John of Mico, Texas; brother in law, Lane Luttrell and wife, Kathy; granddaughters, Sophie Ann Tranchina and Jackie Edler; nephews, David Mitchell and John Christopher Dale and niece, Kemper Rogers.

A Memorial service will be held Wednesday, April 29, 2009 at 4:00 p.m. At Black Mountain Presbyterian Church. A reception will follow the service in the fellowship hall.
