DKE Board of Directors Election

The Deke Board of Directors held its officer elections on Tuesday, July 8th, and we are excited to announce that the new Chairman of the Board is Sam Heffner, Psi Omega – RPI ’56.  Vice Chairman is Peter Tripp, Phi Gamma – Syracuse ’93.  Treasurer is Michael Peters, Delta Delta – Chicago ’90.

Brother Heffner has been on the DKE Board for three years, and comes from a background rich in non-profit experience. Besides owning and operating his successful construction company, Heffner & Weber, in the Baltimore area, Sam was the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) for over 20 years. Sam was a Deke at RPI, graduating in 1956. He has been instrumental in our efforts to revive the Psi Omega Chapter at RPI.

Both of DKE’s other officers, Peter Tripp and Michael Peters, also joined the Board in 2011. Peter was Brother Beta while a Deke at Syracuse, then obtained his AMP (Advanced Management Program) from Wharton. He has moved into various increasing corporate roles in Strategy and IT, with companies such as HBO and the large non-profit organization called the Robin Hood Foundation. He’s currently with Shane Co. in Denver, CO, in an Executive Strategy role.

Michael Peters is a commercial real estate and technology entrepreneur based in Cleveland. He is currently working with several young investment ventures and leads a technology start-up focused on the commercial real estate industry. Michael has an MBA (from NYU), and has extensive experience in non profit management, in particular with the University of Chicago Alumni Board of Governors (where he is currently its VP).

DKE wishes to thank Brother Bob Bilbrough (Psi Delta - Wake Forest ‘78) for his service as Chairman of DKE’s Board of Directors. Bob worked tirelessly on behalf of DKE, visiting several chapters across North America, and representing DKE at alumni events.  We also wish to thank outgoing Vice Chairman Al Bienvenu (Zeta Zeta ‘70), who has spent countless hours in a volunteer capacity for DKE, while also tending to his busy law practice in New Orleans. Bob and Al remain on the DKE Board as Directors.
