Last weekend, DKE's Syracuse Chapter hosted a fundraiser for Veterans. Syracuse University has a long history of affiliation with Veterans. According to Chapter Vice President David Alexander Foley Carmichael, "There is an immense population of Veterans around campus both as professors and students. William Pearson Tolley, the longtime chancellor of Syracuse University, whose vision helped transform it into one of the nation's largest private universities, was INFLUENTIAL in getting FDR on board with the GI Bill and opened his campus to any returning veterans; the bill was later passed and Syracuse is home to tons of Veterans."
The Phi Gamma Chapter has decided to support this tradition with last weekend's fundraiser. Again quoting Brother Carmichael, "We had an awesome turnout for the 1st Annual DKE Bootcamp! So far we've raised roughly $1500 for the Post 9/11 Veterans at the Veteran's Affairs Hospital here on campus. Our goal is $3000 so we're still fundraising until the end of the semester with hopes to meet that goal. I'm extremely proud of our chapter and we will be turning DKE Bootcamp into a Bi-Annual fundraiser for the Vets on Campus." Any Dekes wishing to donate can click here.
Congrats to Phi Gamma-Syracuse!
